Well, it's great to be home and back in the studio. This week I'm working on a dress I call "Dotty" because it's got a couple of pockets hidden in a polka dot. I'm not quite finished the prototype yet but I'll have a picture of it up next week.
I picked up some great vintage fabrics and curtains and drapes for up-cycling last week while I was housesitting in Truro. The Frenchy's and Louie's in Truro are really great. The retro racks are actually cheaper there because they don't sell that well. Other Truro highlights include the lemon meringue pie at Fletcher's, the horse races and Sugar Moon the maple sugar shack.
In other news this week I got myself a really nice display rack:
Isn't it lovely? Two rows for hanging clothes and I can put a shelf on top for more things to display. I could even put a couple of diagonal shelves for footwear on the bottom. Also it goes perfectly with this dress form I have:
The pair will be great for display at the farmer's market or craft fairs.
No big news this week for the Self Employment Benefit program. I have all my paper work in and I'm just waiting to be accepted by Employment Nova Scotia. I've been told that's just a technicality but I can't officially stop looking for other work until then.
I do have an interview for a part-time teaching gig next week and if I get it that could be a great source of funding for the business. I like teaching too so my fingers are crossed.
That's all for now. More news next week.
